Black-type success for Dajraan
Emirates Park bred and raced Dajraan (GB) posted his maiden black-type success with a runaway victory in the Group 3 ATC Festival Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Bred in the northern hemisphere and originally raced out of the Kevin Ryan stable in Yorkshire before being transferred to Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott in Sydney, Dajraan (GB) faced the starter for the first time since mid-September when taking his place in the Festival Stakes field and running out an impressive winner after racing on the pace throughout.
Co-trainer Adrian Bott was delighted by the victory, stating in his post-race interview: “It was great to win for His Excellency and for Emirates Park.”
Bott added: “He has always had a great turn of foot and we were able to see that today because he settled so well … hopefully he can really go on with it now.
“He’s a phenomenally-bred horse and he’s still an entire, so hopefully there is a lot more to come from him.’’
Dajraan (GB) is a son of the worldwide sire phenomenon Frankel from the Emirates Park bought and raced Mossfun — one of two Golden Slipper Stakes winners raced by the stud in recent time.
After just 14 starts, Dajraan (GB) is now the winner of four races, two of which were recorded in England during his 3-year-old season overseas.
In addition to his two wins in Australia, Dajraan (GB) also stakes-placed in the Group 3 ATC Doncaster Prelude (1500m).
Emirates Park will offer a half-brother by I Am Invincible to Dajraan (GB) at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale (Lot 153) in January. The colt is the fifth foal of Mossfun, the Joint Top Filly of 2013-14 Australasian 2YO Classification.
