An exceptional front-running performance by Dreams Aplenty saw the talented first-crop son of Dream Ahead (USA) land the Group 3 BRC Gunsynd Classic (1600m) and open-up his stakes winning account.
One of the leading juvenile performers of the 2016 Queensland Winter Racing Carnival, Dreams Aplenty has trained-on at 3-years to become a leading sprinter-miler and went in to the stakes contest on the back of a hat-trick of victories posted at Eagle Farm, Doomben and Toowoomba.
The Group 3 Gunsynd Classic saw the son of Dream Ahead go four-from-four in March-April and produce the most outstanding performance of his very prominent racing career to date.
Taken straight to the lead, Dreams Aplenty set a searching gallop and had his rivals stretched out over many lengths for the majority of the contest. Challenged by the eventual runner-up Violate around the home turn, the duo engaged in a ding-dong battle all the way down the straight, Dreams Aplenty ultimately displaying extreme depths of courage to prevail on the line.
Dreams Aplenty has now won five of his 11 career starts and close on $275,000 in prizemoney. He becomes the fourth domestic first-crop stakes winner this season for Dream Ahead following Ken’s Dream, Awaken and Generalissimo.
Significantly, Dreams Aplenty is a maternal grandson of Redoute’s Choice who is the damsire of all but one of Dream Ahead’s four Australian-bred stakes winners to date. Both Awaken and Generalissimo are bred on identical terms.
