Two $1.6 million colts sold at #MMGC23

The Emirates Park bloodstock sales team began 2023 on a very bright note when selling two $1.6 million colts offered at the latest renewal of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Day 1 of trading witnessed Lot 153 of the Emirates Park consignment go for $1,650,000 after a winning bid of Hawkes Racing.

A son of champion sire I Am Invincible, the colt is the fifth foal of Emirates Park’s Golden Slipper winner Mossfun, the joint Top Filly of 2013-14 Australasian 2YO Classification and herself trained by John, Michael and Wayne Hawkes.

Later in the sale, Lot 504 of the Emirates Park draft fetched $1,600,000 when secured by James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership.

Another top-quality son of I Am Invincible, the youngster is the first foal of an unraced daughter of the aforementioned Mossfun named Tumooh (by Fastnet Rock).

Another five members of the farm’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale draft realised six-figure sums and filtered into such prominent racing stables as those of Bjorn Baker, Tony Gollan, Annabel Neasham and Michael Hickmont.

In total, the Emirates Park bloodstock sales team sold all 10 Lots offered in Book 1 & 2 for a collective $4,382,500. Most notably, it’s Book 1 average of $527,500 was the second highest of all vendors represented with close on 80 of Australasia’s leading thoroughbred breeding nurseries present.
