Enthaar claims second Group 3 at start No. 2
Emirates Park bred and raced Enthaar maintained her unbeaten record — and reputation as potentially the domestic 2020/21 racing season’s star 2-year-old — when scoring a totally dominant win in the Group 3 MRC Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield.
Having just her second start after an equally impressive performance when landing the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Randwick last October on debut, Enthaar lead from start to finish in the coveted black-type event and was never extended at any stage of the 1000m assignment.
On the line, Enthaar had two-and-a-half lengths to spare on fellow juvenile stakes winner Ingratiating — plus possibly a couple of gears up her sleeve, such was the ease of her brilliant victory.
Speaking after the win, Ciaron Maher of the successful Maher-Eustace training partnership remarked: “She was a little bit keen, but she came here a little bit soft as well.
“She only had the one jump out and she’s going to come on in leaps and bounds, so the main thing was she dropped the head. I couldn’t have been happier to the eye. ”
Winning rider Mark Zahra stated after the win that there was still ‘plenty in the tank’ on passing the winning post.
“I said to Oli [Damian Oliver] pulling up, that I had harder work pulling her up than I did in the race.”
Zahra added: “I don’t know if she could have gone much quicker if I was riding her out. She does her best without much encouragement, but I definitely think there was a bit there.
“The grand final [Blue Diamond] is in a couple of weeks… As long as she can behave like she did today, I think she’ll get the 1200 metres.”
Enthaar is now as short as $2.10 for the Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr.1) scheduled for Saturday 20th February.
