Another accolade for Estijaab
Emirates Park-owned Estijaab has added another major distinction to her formidable juvenile season by being recognised as the ATC NSW Two-year-old of the Year at the 2018 NSW Racehorse Owners Association Night of Champions awards ceremony held at Royal Randwick.
One of the most coveted titles of the evening, Estijaab outpointed all of her quality contemporaries in the division to take the title. The Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders’ Awards in May also saw Estijaab recognised as the HTBA Champion 2YO Filly of season 2017/18.
Estijaab earned the acclaim on the back of an exceptional juvenile campaign that culminated with her all-the-way victory in the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m).
In four starts, the brilliant daughter of Snitzel won the Golden Slipper, the Group 2 Reisling Stakes and a Randwick 2YO Plate (on debut), in addition to finishing a narrow runner-up to Sunlight in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes.
In receiving the award on behalf of His Excellency Nassar Lootah, Hussain Lootah and the Emirates Park team, general manager Bryan Carlson extended his thanks to Hawkes Racing and its team behind the scenes, Muskoka Farm, and jockey Brenton Avdulla for his great ride to victory.
