Emirates Park purchase prized Magic Millions Snitzel filly

January 12, 2018.

Day 3 of the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale saw Emirates Park make a very significant acquisition to its future racing team and broodmare band when purchasing a magnificent daughter of champion sire Snitzel for $875,000.

Presented for sale by Bhima Thoroughbreds (As Agent), the striking chestnut filly is the third foal of Augusta Proud, an ultra-precocious daughter of More Than Ready (USA) that won six times as a 2-year-old when in training with Leon Macdonald in Adelaide, her series of victories being highlighted by the GCTC Magic Millions 2YO Classic of her generation.

Augusta Proud went on to win nine races and amass prizemoney of $1.74 million in total, including the Group 3 SAJC RN Irwin Stakes in her home State. In addition to being one of the standout race fillies of her time, she has also made her mark as a broodmare, producing the Group 3 VRC Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes winner Thyme For Roses (by Redoute’s Choice) with just two foals to race.

In addition to Augusta Proud, the filly’s page also features the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks winner She’s Country, as well as this season’s Flemington stakes winner Anaheim.

The purchase of the Snitzel filly came on the eve of the 2018 Magic Millions 2YO Classic in which Emirates Park is represented as both a breeder and an owner. Live chance Legislation, a superbly-bred son of Not a Single Doubt tracing back to the family of Secret Savings (USA), was bred and sold on behalf of Emirates Park for $525,000, with the stud subsequently retaining an interest in the colt as a racing prospect.
